The TRREB Past President’s Scholarship application process for 2023 is now CLOSED.

Topic #1

What does the recent trend of generational wealth transfer from parents (or grandparents) to their children (or grandchildren) mean for the Greater Toronto Area – specifically, demand and competition in the real estate market, housing supply, and price of homes?

Topic #2

The pandemic’s ripple effects saw some Torontonians and Greater Toronto Area residents opt to leave downtown cores in search of more space in suburbia or rural areas as working from home became the new normal. Do you think this shift will continue, or do you think some will decide to return to downtown areas? What issues or outcomes regarding the economy, housing, and employment do you see arising out of this movement?

• 1 - In April 2017, the Ontario government released its Fair Housing Plan, which included the imposition of a 15 per cent Non-Resident Speculation Tax in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Area.
